You will not forget Tony's story. Let his journey be an inspiration for your own. Perhaps one might say this is a 'rags to riches to rags to RICHES' story; because let there be no doubt about it, The Yarijanians may have lost all they had but they are rich- in their big hearts, and rich in the enormity of their love for each other and for those around them. They are also rich in strength, tenacity, determination, character, and faith.
Tony has endured 60 blood transfusions and many surgeries (45 at last count) and lots of therapy. The scope of what had happened to him; as well as the stories from those who came into his life while he was comatose, began to sink in. He began to tell tales of angels and visitors from 'the other side.' Tony couldn't help but wonder why he narrowly escaped death so many times in his lifetime. Was there a greater purpose in store?
For the first time in his life he was confused. Before the accident, he had a 'title'. He was an Automotive Diagnostician. His wife Ani started attending classes to become a Respiratory Therapist, because she'd been inspired by the therapists who'd cared for her husband. She couldn't think of a more rewarding field to become a part of. For a short time Tony considered entering that field too; he even entertained thoughts of studying side by side with his wife, but he had to ask himself, 'am I being practical here?' After all, a respiratory therapist only has a certain amount of time to save a life. They have to have nimble hands, too. Could Tony fully trust his hands-- which despite therapy would only have 'just so much' range of motion…?
